I love The Play Album for its virtuosic electricity and exhilaration throughout.

The Play Album was inspired by the Playful Music project, produced by fivebyfive in collaboration with The Strong National Museum of Play and The Rochester Public Library. Designed to inspire all through the power of play, the project included the commissioning of new musical works inspired by toys from the National Toy Hall of Fame and the presentation of four public performances along with uniquely engaging interactive activities. This album includes pieces from the Playful Music collection as well as other pieces inspired by play!

LIPSTICK (March, 2022
Picture
JacobTV's LIPSTICK, performed by Laura Lentz.

This music video explores the rabbit hole of social media — what is reality when the pursuit of reactions and followers blurs the distinction between the real world and the world of social media.  JacobTV’s composition, composed in 1998, is based on sound types from American talk show TV. Twenty four years later, the social media technology has changed the landscape hugely, but the underlying human conditions, perhaps not so much.

Inspired by photographs of James Welling (Choreograph Collection) and stained glass art of Judith Schaechter (Glass Works Collection), the music on this recording realizes a collaborative artistic vision to capture movement, light, and connections through music and art.
